The Biden Presidency

You mean other than he's a corporate weakling that does nothing while our country's institutions, freedoms, and democratic norms face existential crisis from the Republicans?

He has the care, will to act, and fortitude of a mummified mouse that's been dead a year. If he had a fiddle he would play it as the country burns.

To be fair that's not a new criticism. He's been that way from day 1 of his presidency.
You mean not having the votes in the Senate is Joe’s fault? It is not like Biden was elected with a huge wave of support. They lost House seats and barely won the Senate. Not to to mention one Democratic Senator (Manchin) is actively working against him.

Maybe you should let him know which part of the constitution gives him the power to act unilaterally on any of the things you're criticizing him for.

CNN Poll: 75% of Democratic voters want someone other than Biden in 2024

A new CNN poll finds 75% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters want the party to nominate someone other than President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, a sharp increase from earlier this year.
...
Twenty-four percent of Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters said they want someone else because they don't think Biden can win in 2024, up from 18% in a poll conducted in January and February. Thirty-two percent feel that way because they don't want Biden to be reelected, up from 16% earlier this year. Twenty-five percent said they prefer Biden as the nominee, which is a steep drop from 45% in January/February.

And this is a poll of democrats by CNN.

There's no clear opponent for 2024 and still 24% thinks he can't win, and a third don't want him to win. That's gotta hurt.

Has an incumbent president ever lost the party nomination to run in the election? It feels like some Dem candidates could have a chance of taking him down.

Technically you need to go back to the 19th Century. Andrew Johnson is probably the only one with name recognition.

Two 20th Century presidents are in the ballpark:
William Taft: He got the Republican nomination in 1912, but TR took half the party with him.
Lyndon Johnson: He was eligible to run in 1968, but unexpectedly withdrew after narrowly winning the NH primary. He may have seen the writing on the wall.

The election is still two years away. Some good economic news will help his chances. Else, he is looking like Jimmy Carter. Two years of Republican House rule may also help. The Senate is not looking terrible either - that can help too.

All that said, I believe the guy should ride into the sunset voluntarily. He beat Donald Trump - the most important accomplishment of his life.

Hopefully Joe’s message stays alive. A great speech from the ‘sleepy senile corpse with cognitive issues.’

Joe Biden says the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

Um. No.
"The pandemic is over," he said. "We still have a problem with COVID. We're still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over. If you notice, no one's wearing masks".
Could that possibly have to do with the fact they're no longer mandated?

This is basically Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner

Biden to Visit Southern Border Amid Fresh Crackdown on Migrants

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...-amid-fresh-crackdown-on-migrants/ar-AA165Tyj

Managing to piss everyone off:
Democrats and human rights activists condemned his new enforcement plan as a “humanitarian disgrace.” Republicans blasted his two-year delay in coming to a border they say is “wide open” to undocumented immigrants. And Mexican officials — who are preparing to welcome him to a summit of North American leaders on Monday — warned that his proposals would cross a “red line” for them.

Literally a no-win for him. And again, criticizing the prev admin without having a plan of his own:
The question of what to do with them — Accept them? Detain them? Send them home? — has become one of the most polarized political debates in the United States. And Mr. Biden has not found a solution during his presidency as the situation in El Paso and communities along the border has worsened.
...
As a candidate, Mr. Biden assailed President Donald J. Trump’s handling of the border, calling it inhumane and ineffective. But as he heads to Mexico City for two days of meetings that will be dominated by the immigration issue, the Mr. Biden’s critics have only ramped up their assault on his policies.

Although to be fair, I'm sure the GOP is doing the same thing, criticizing joe without any better plan of their own.

Biden is so clueless he's down there mistaking the Salvation Army for the Secret Service - on camera (again). Mush brain from the jump, and just getting worse.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

They had a good plan. Build a wall, lock it down, and make people immigrate legally and by the procedures set forth to do so. There's a lot of mischief and mayhem going on because of this open door policy, and considering my 30 year old nephew died last year because of a fentanyl/heroin overdose, I for one would like to see it far less easy to get it into the country.

Don't feel obligated to answer as it's personal, but I have to ask - can you clarify the connection between the overdose and immigration?

Any plan that's so flawed and unrealistic as to have no remote viability of ever working isn't a "good plan". Even more so when it's also ridiculously expensive while it has no chance of working. Any wall we would built is going to be laughably easy to circumvent.

The US doesn't have an "open door policy". Almost no politicians of either party actually believe in that. That's made up saying by people that want to use it as a bumper sticker level political talking point that has never reflected reality, or a least not one baring somebody needing to go back to before most of our grandfathers were born for it be be true.

There's a lot od those drugs being brought into, this country by gangs and cartels, or it's being made here, in my opinion likely by gang or cartel members in this country illegally.

If the door isn't closed, AND locked, it's open. Politicians of the ultra progressive ilk, aren't trying to secure it. If you won't help fix it, you are probably happy with it, When bus loads of illegals are being shipped to various places, to many are coming in, at to fast a rate to control it. Personally, I think they should make a strip of land one mile wide, along the whole boarder a military base, and start filling Gitmo, and Alcatraz back up.

Thanks for sharing Daystar.
I think it's a safe bet that organized crime & cartels are responsible for a good segment of drugs in the US, and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think that a lot of the operatives are not in the US legally.

The wall was flawed to begin with and literally unfeasible, but if there's one thing the rump admin did right, it's keeping their message clear and consistent - don't try to enter illegally. Pretty sure the images of kids in cages & cowboys chasing down illegals like wild game is a message that can't be misinterpreted.

If we stop fentanyl from being smuggled in from Mexico and China, then we can return to American made opioids. Big Pharma will appreciate the business. The Sacklers thank you. Those settlements will not pay for themselves.

Cutting off the incoming supply is a great idea. Reducing the demand would be even better. It is not the product, but the consumer.
