Police officer assaults teen at a school unprovoked

The Five-O at their best. Fascists!.

Hate for them doesn't come from nowhere. I don't care if he has had a recent family bereavement or not. You don't take your built up anger and frustration out on others because you are hurting inside. And especially not if you are in a position of power. If that is the case then me thinks someone shouldn't have been on the job till they were able to overcome some of the loss they suffered.

You don't disrespect the cops if they ask you to do something.

It would kind of depend on what that something is. If it is a valid request then all is well. Not however if it is simply because it is an abuse of power like them telling you to do it because they are police and they think they can get away with it.

He seems like a real ready, steady cop to me. I think he'd be an ideal candidate to do foot patrols on the South Side of Chicago. Wonder how ol' "Barney Fife" would do there? ;)

i think that regardless of the cop's situation, he should have just taken the high road. he is older, knows better and wears a uniform. the kid's just a kid. (although, i'd be offended too if i were in his place).

Yes, but a tape with no audio doesn't really offer any evidence to prove that the officer wasn't provoked. Special needs or not, the kid is a 15 year old high schooler...it's kiiiiind of hard to find a 15 year old high schooler that isn't a smart ass, especially towards police officers. With that being said...even if this kid said "GO FUCK YOURSELF" to this officer, the push and tackle were a little much. I mean...come on, dude.

I agree with him, with no audio the evidence not really solid.
Though the officer was a bit agressive.

There is no reason for an officer to shove a 15 yr old boy into a wall with lockers, ever. A police officer is supposed to be trained to handle difficult situations and not create them like he did. If he can't handle something a child says he should never have been allowed to become a police officer.

Exactly. He was a special-needs kid ("retarded" for you non-PC people out there). He posed no physical threat to the policeman from what I saw so I don't care what the "audio" evidence might suggest....the cop was WAY out of line.

I love this quote from the story:

Dolton Mayor Ronnie Lewis said the officer has been terminated, but claimed he does not know why.

Aptly named little town there....Dolt-on.
