Growing trend of the "fast buck" in porn?

Everyone watching porn for some time now probably knows, that there were always girls that were in the business just for some fast cash or their "15 minutes of fame" and then disappeared again.

But I'd like to know: Am I the only one that thinks, that this has become a growing trend, especially amongst North American hot girls (but some European ones as well)?
In the last few years, there have been I don't know how many really hot girls that came into the business, shot some scenes within half a year or a year, made a lot of money (because some of them were in really big scenes) and were suddenly gone never to be heard of again or started doing only g/g and then were someday gone never to be heard of again.
I mean, there are also those who "worked their way up" and are seemingly "here to stay" (like Madison Scott, Amia Moretti or Shawna Lenee for example), but what about

Capri Cavalli for example
or Halia Hill
or what about Adrenalynn
Ryder Skye
Lichelle Marie
Celia Blanco
Tiffany Brookes
Merrick Morgan
Ashlee Cleveland
Brittany Blew

or if you want to broaden the perimeter a bit by including "older" girls:
what about Chanel St. James
or Barbie Baja
or Logan James
or Tylene Buck's pathetic take on porn (I know, she has been "around" some time now, but I'm talking about porn)

This has obviously become such a prominent factor, that there are constantly rumors flying around about which young fresh hottie is perhaps gone already. In the last month alone, I've heard about Kylee Strutt, Priscilla Milan, Sofia Valentine, Tanner Mayes or Juelz Ventura probably being gone already, even though there is no confirmation of this at all and still unreleased material of them.

So, to pose the question again: Is there a growing trend, especially amongst North American hot girls (but some European ones as well)? And does this annoy you as much as me?

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I don't know. I think what strikes me is the incredible volume of girls who are doing porn now. They come. They go. It's a revolving door. So I agree with the OP. But I think it's the dime-a-dozen attitude of the industry (and the fans) now that contributes to it as much as anything.

I read an interview with Danielle (starlet from the 80's). She made it pretty big because she came in just as Seka was fading (Seka only went by her first name, so they set Danielle up the same way). Danielle was young, slim, very pretty and blonde. At that time, according to her, it wasn't as common to see girls who looked like her in porn as you do now. So she stood out from the crowd. Now, unless a girl is super freaky, it's harder to stand out from the (ever growing) crowd.

Every now & again, a particular pro girl will catch my eye. But for the most part, I prefer the amateur sites and individual girls. The industry/agency girls come & go so fast now, it's hardly worth it to bother learning their names. Plus... hell, by the time they dye their hair, get a tramp-stamp and a boob job, they all look alike anyway (or at least just like the other girls in her category). Next week, there'll be another one that resembles this week's dish of the day closely enough.

Jaded cynicism. Sad, ain't it? :D

I don't know what a "fast buck" is considered in an industry like porn as most people in entertainment are in it for a "fast buck".

It would seem to me that porn chicks have more control over what scenes or roles they perform than the vast majority of mainstream actors and actresses.

I just think we are in another one of these "tastes" threads...Some don't like what some chicks do and think that they are obviously so money or drug crazed that they couldn't possibly be doing the scene of their own volition.

Again, I'm not going to sit in judgment of one scene a chick decides to do over another other than to say whatever scene they are doing is being done for 2 reasons, the money and they don't mind doing it.

Some of these chicks even prefer to do some of the stuff they are doing whether some approve of it or not.

More to your question...I just think there are more chicks interested in doing porn now more than ever. If there are some that come....get paid for some good porn and then leave...all I can say is thanks and come back soon(if they were any good).

But I can't blame someone for not wanting to make a career out of doing porn.

A debate on principles! Yeah, let's kill this thread. :D

But seriously, I wasn't talking about the scenes some girls shoot or about the different tastes in pornstars. ;) Is it possible that you needed to vent? :D

Ok, here's the thing.
What I don't like, or better: don't understand (obviously, or else I wouldn't have started this thread), is girls coming into the business having breast implants, being puffed and pimped and styled to the extreme sometimes just to make some fast money (like 10 to 20 shoots max) and then suddenly leave. I know it's their decision, but honestly: why?
It probably won't be easier for them to find a job in a different profession after that, so as a stepping stone it's rather useless. It's not like you can attach it to your résumé as if you have done a nice internship at John Hopkins Medical. ;) I smell money. :D
Or another reason: we as pornviewers happily notice the arrival of a new tasty yumm-yumm and are hornily (does that word exist...hornily?) looking forward to many years of great scenes, but then after half a year of cum dodging and fake moaning they are suddenly gone... kinda crap don't you think? To make a comparison to the movie business: I still love the performance of Hanna Zetterberg in Ronja Rövardotter and I would have loved many more great performances by this adorable young actress, but alas, she only made this single movie. I don't necessarily judge her (I think she's in politics now), but it's a pity nonetheless.

Coming and doing porn for only a short while might be the dumbest route and adult performer can take of all. They get all the negative and not much of the benefits of doing it. Most of the people that come into porn, for one reason or another whether they are desperate, greedy, naive, young, stupid, maybe just rebellious, or because they were finally talked into it by somebody else either just don't think things fully through, or they have false preconceived notions about what porn is like or false notions about how easy success is in it. (The majority of porners and other industry people do absolutely nothing to dispel those false beliefs or set those people right before they begin either since it benefits them and helps them rake in the cash.) I bet a lot of them get in and find out it's not all they thought it was going to be. I bet a lot of them really don't like it once they get in. Only a fraction of people that are in porn should really be in it and can properly handle it. Even for them they have to deal with a cutthroat industry with an uncountable number of pitfalls and scumbags.

I also have a hard time believing that that any but the smallest minority of them do it because they just love it that much.

I can see how it happens, so many more porno's are being made every year now that the need for girls is so great that some of those new to the business arent going to make it. Not all of them are going to become stars because very few have that star making quilty that has made some of the more bigger names in porn right now have. I'm not sure what it actually is, willingness to participate in various scenes would probably be one and I guess luck plays a huge role in it also along with persistence.

Maybe as well, porn just wasnt what these women thought it was going to be. Maybe they went into it with a mindset that when they got there just wasnt fulfilled. There is also the factor that there are so many established names nowadays which is slightly different from the 90's when there were only 5 or more girls who were on the top of a film makers list, maybe the market is over saturated and these girls who have been in the business for a few months cant break into that "elite" and are stuck doing something they do not want to do.

You can never know the reasons why someone doesnt make it, maybe the reasons I or the others have posted here are the truth or maybe it's as you say just to make a quick buck to set them up to do other things. Until the pornstar themselves gives the reasons why we can continue to speculate until the cows come home but we arent really going to know.

"D-Rock" you'd be surprised. Better yet, find one interview where a porn chick is complaining about her overall experience in porn nowadays. It's hard as heck to find one...The last porn babe interview that I read which had a somewhat negative tone...was Bianca Trump's and it was primarily because she was loony at the time.

But there are "noble" reasons. Some chicks are simply attempting to use the money they earn for other ventures...primarily furthering their education.

I know 1 porn chick I met when she was a stripper and she's been stripping and doing porn since at least '97 when I met her....I also know another porn chick who is in college and is more than paying her way there with what she's earning doing porn/modeling, etc.

Again, I just question the notion that it is a.) a "growing trend" as the nature of porn has always been about in relative terms "the fast buck". And b.) That nowadays "the fast buck" is a porn specific phenomena.

I mean, didn't we just witness one of the largest meltdowns of the world's financial sector due in part to the pursuit of "the fast buck"? As a matter of fact, you'd be hard pressed nowadays to find something that isn't about "the fast buck".:2 cents: (I know, I know I only gave you 2 cents...if you were after "the fast buck" yourself in this thread...I'll need give you another 49 post worth 2 cents a piece..;). Could take some time. :D)

No, shit. Nobody is going to go out and openly badmouth the industry in an interview, even in an industry like this. That would be career suicide. Even if they aren't in it anymore that would pretty much hurt them if they ever felt the needed to get back. But if you look at what people have to say with porn after they are done, it often isn't as nearly as good about it anymore. It the same reason mainstream actors go on late night television to pimp their movies say how great a movie is and how much of great time they had making it when it sucks, they know it sucks, and they would have rather been working on a different project or how sports athletes almost always have great things to say after a game in an interview about the game, their teemmates and their opponent.

To this I'll have to just disagree. But wouldn't what you state be belied by the fact that they could just get the fuck out of the industry if they felt it was so bad??

I mean, it's a pretty simple equation...porn is about fucking for money. Hard to believe someone isn't good with that notion before they get into the industry.

This shit ain't rocket science...maybe you have a specific problem with an asshole or two as we all may have had in our professional lives at some point. But if you understand your business is fucking for money...It seems pretty simple to agree to terms, do the scene, collect your fee, clean up and go fucking home. Very little room in that to have something to "badmouth" about IMO.

And again, some chicks actually like the kinds of scenes they do...as there are thousands of regular chicks who do some of the same shit porn chicks do for free...because they like doing it.

I always think of Minka: She's very open about what she wants, what she does (and doesn't do, won't do), why she does it, and her end-game. Ultimately, it's all about the Big Bang (no, not that BB! LOL).

2 points...First...I think the fact porn stars come and go so quickly is our (the porn consumers) own doing. Personally, after I've seen a girl getting fucking or having a load blown all over them a dozen times or so, I'm like...ok ...next. Second....Just because a porn star is hot...doesn't always make her entertaining. The industry, it seems, is all about leading edge entertainment because we the consumers demand it.

PLEASE GOD DON'T LET TANNER MAYES HAVE QUIT!!!

but yes I agree with you that this does seem to happen more than it used to. However as dissapointed as I may be when I find out a girl that I'm just getting into has quit, you gotta give them credit for using the business to their advantage. We are the suckers who get drawn in when a new hot thing turns up and if they can make money that way why not.

I'm sure most of us would do the same thing if we were offered an opportunity to make some decent money for very little time.

She's been around for fucking ages (pun intended) so I hardly think of that as a "fast buck".

Conspiracy...

Females who just do a scene or two then leave needs to stop.

Their names and location should be found and pictures of them caught in the act should be posted in their town or city.

Also, DVDs should be made of their scenes and handed out. :D
