We lost in Nam and they didn't come to get us.I don't think Iraqis will be coming eithier,they will be busy enough with the aftermath in their own country.If winning is a iraq ending up being a pro western democracy I think that is not really very probable given the trauma we have inflicted with our invasion.

While I would agree they are different I think we would disagree on how they are different.I think the domino theory which was what was said would happen in nam if we left was flawed.But the vietnamease and the communitsts in general were in much more of a position to come after us if that was what they really were intending to do.Iraq on the other hand and the arab countries in general have no such capability and won't in the the forseable future.That's really the flaw in the whole approach that this is really a miliatry type of conflict at all.It really is as some say a Law enforcement thing that is against a few radicals in a few places and not a war between nation states which is what wars are.The idea that these islamic radicals pose anything like the level of threat the soviets/communists did once is absurd fearmongering IMO.But this is suppose to be a fun thread so I will just leave it there.
